These speakers have a 5.25 inch polypropylene woofer with butyl rubber surround, and a 25 millimeter parachute silk dome tweeter. On a audiophile's scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 3. Sounds hollow and no bass whatsoever...not even mid-bass.

I just finished hooking up my outdoor speakers, with a outdoor volume control. I did not want to spend alot of money on outdoor speaker but I wanted decent sound. I went with the Phoenix Gold IHS6W 6.5 inch woofer and a 25mm tweeter. I found this to be the largest woofer in this price range and was exactly what I was looking for. The white speakers were cheaper than the black, and I took them all apart and sprayed them to match the exterior of my house. They sound great, better than I thought they would.

I've always been a fan of Phoenix Gold stuff, and I was not dissapointed when I hooked these up. I installed them right under my eve on the back porch. They sound great, but the best thing I found was that you can put tons of power to them with little distortion. Which to me is super important because if you are outside, acoustics are horrible, you need lots of volume. I'll definitely recommend these to everyone.
